Camp is Happening

I stopped in to see what was happening at SPNM this week and saw lots of excited faces. 78 children (we have room for 80) are currently registered for day camp at SPNM and we have another 30 teen volunteers and counselors working with the campers. I talked to some happy bakers in the kitchen. Cupcakes with sprinkles were on the menu and there were even volunteers for dish washing duty. In one of the classrooms kids were using computers, in another classroom kids were moving like animals – real and imagined. And outside there was chalk drawing, Frisbee and basketball.

Of course with all these kids there are lots of ways you can help.

We always need:

  • 100% juice,
  • small cups (6-8 oz),
  • sunscreen,
  • paper towels,
  • and napkins.

I’m sure I don’t have to say that we can also use financial donations! We are still hoping to raise an additional $5000 to provide stipends for some of our teens, who will volunteer 350 or more hours this summer! We can use smaller amounts to cover the costs of “Fun with Food” classes and materials for Science groups!

We also need STAFF/TEEN T-Shirts to help identify us on trips and off site activities.

If you have an idea of your own, PLEASE contact Amy. We have had a lot of great enrichment events and small groups that were initiated by volunteers!
