FOOD PANTRY

South Providence Neighborhood Matters provides food assistance to low-income families with children in the home, and elderly or disabled persons receiving SSI or SSDI residing in Providence’s 02905 and 02907 zip code areas.

Our Food Pantry serves over 500 families, including more than 1,900 individuals each week.  The second largest food pantry in the state of Rhode Island, it provides food for families on a weekly basis and is stocked with staples to offer emergency food on a walk-in basis.  Our Food Pantry also provides health and beauty items to families in need.

Food Pantry Hours are as follows:

  • Mondays 10 am-12 pm
  • Tuesdays 11am- 1pm and 4-6 pm
  • Wednesdays & Thursdays 11 am-1 pm
  • Fridays starting at 11 am

Fridays are known as “Free Fridays.” Clients have the option of coming again, starting at 11 am, until all food items are distributed. “Free Fridays” are open to all, regardless of their zip code.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

Our community Outreach Program provides rental and utility assistance to qualifying families, and referrals to families in need to connect them with community partners that provide additional resources. Our Outreach Program also serves expecting mothers.  It offers supplies such as layettes, food, formula and diapers for newborns, as well as health and beauty items for qualifying families.  All services are available to residents living in Providence’s 02905 or 02907 zip code areas.
