Corporate Spelling Bee

text2985Gather your co-workers and “Bee the Change” by participating in the first annual Corporate Spelling Bee to benefit Louie’s Place at South Providence Neighborhood Ministries (SPNM). The “Bee” will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014, from 6:00-8:30 pm at the Providence College Annex, 231 Douglas Avenue, Providence. We are recruiting businesses across Rhode Island to form three-member teams to compete in a charity spelling bee to raise funds for summer camp scholarships. For twenty-five years, South Providence Neighborhood Ministries (SPNM) has provided food, clothing and other services to needy families by operating one of the state’s busiest food pantries. Our Louie’s Place educational programs offer at-risk students safe, affordable after-school child care, academic support, and high quality programs.

Our Louie’s Place summer program provides an engaging, interactive and safe environment for at-risk inner city youth. As a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization serving some of our state’s most vulnerable children and families, we need your help to create scholarships for children and teens in South Providence. SPNM sets registration fees based on families’ ability to pay. We rely on donors to bridge the gap between what needy families can afford to pay and the full cost of our all-day summer program, which includes breakfast, snacks, lunch and the chance to participate in fun and challenging activities, learn conflict resolution strategies, practice academic skills and travel to area beaches and museums.

Bee the Change promises to be a fun-filled event and a great way to build company spirit. Our Bee will feature a silent auction and a casual buffet for participants; all teams will be provided with t-shirts for the event, and sponsors will also be recognized on the SPNM web site and in our event program. We sincerely hope you’ll partner with us by signing up to “Bee the Change” today. As a participating sponsor, you’ll help us make words such as “creativity,” “opportunity,” and “scholarship” a reality for dozens of at-risk families this summer. For more information about our Bee, or to learn more about SPNM’s services and programs, please call (401.461.7509) or Email Executive Director, Yvette Kenner.

We hope to hear from you.
