The Holiday Report

As we move into the new year, here’s a quick look at what was happening at SPNM during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

570 families received food for Thanksgiving. This included fixings from turkeys to veggies to bread mixes. Clients signed up in early November for the Thanksgiving food and were scheduled to pick up Monday evening, Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening. On Wednesday morning, those who had not registered were given what was left. Not every one received a turkey, but no one left empty-handed.

347 families came to Santa’s Workshop to receive gifts for their children along with hats, gloves, mittens and socks for all. 785 kids received gifts. The number of children we served was down significantly, and so were our donations.

Thanks to John Elkhay, the kids who attend the afterschool program at SPNM had a Christmas dinner at Rick’s Roadhouse. This is the 6th year Mr. Elkhay has given our kids this opportunity to eat in a restaurant – a first for many of them. He also provides gifts for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who made donations to make the holiday season a good one for so many.
