Annual Meeting

Barbara Carlson was the recipient of the Ed Shuman Award

The South Providence Neighborhood Ministries Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Dinner was held Tuesday, May 6 at Calvary Church. The friends, clients, board members and staff that attended enjoyed a potluck dinner and afterwards, the staff shared what’s been happening at SPNM. Our kids continue to show improvements in reading and math with 36% of the students performing at proficient or honors in all academic areas. (This is slightly higher than the proficiency rate in Providence.) The ReThink It program, a youth initiated anti-violence, anti-bullying outreach program has presented to school groups and to children of the military. And the Food Pantry gave out 394,781 pounds of food to 28,642 people.

During the past year over 100 volunteers completed over 10,000 hours of community service, but there is still room for you. Give Yvette a call and see how you can help. If you are short on time, we always accept donations too.

Barbara Carlson, former Board Member and tireless volunteer received the Ed Shuman Award for Outstanding Service.
